So, Dear Reader, we have a few examples of what can happen when an incompetent person takes control of an organization. And if they are smart, and this 'one in charge' is plenty smart, they can talk and manipulate their way thru life and have everybody believing that she truly is the 'Chosen One'. They all believe every word she says. She can do no wrong, as they say, yet how could the Monastery have been lost if not for her lack of ability and lack of any leadership qualities? But why didn't the community stop her, put an end to the folly, save our Monastery?
Well, there are many things to consider. First, you need to understand human nature, that we, as a race, strive to secure the best for ourselves. We also have a need to follow, and the one we follow will always be the one that offers us the most for ourselves. So, consider our 'person in charge', one who bullies her followers to stifle dissent, then after she's in control of everything, she can dole out the gifts and trinkets, purchased from Amazon to the tune of nearly fifty thousand every year, probably all during her 13 years or so as Abbess. That buys a bunch of 'loyalty'.
Next, she will buy the fattening comfort foods and set them down for all the overweight sisters to enjoy, then dole out tons of money for designer diet systems so she can complain how they gorge on candy and sweets and regain the lost weight, or she will break enclosure and take everyone out to eat in nice restaurants around town, dressed in our play clothes so we won't be bothered, or take her favorites to the movies.Then she makes rules for us all, but ignores it when we don't follow them. Why? Because letting someone get away with something is like giving candy to a child. It plays to our base desires to be getting away with something. She encourages failure.
In short, she gets reelected because we don't want the responsibility, because under her, we can pretty much do whatever we want, and go out and buy whatever we want, no matter the cost, and pretty much live a comfy, leisurely life as one of the privileged. Let's face it, under our 'one in charge' we want for nothing. We have it all, except maybe, our own self esteem..
