Poor Clare Nuns
Christ the King Monastery
Why care? 1
I guess some easy-going folks might say, 'big deal. Everyone has their ways'. Quit nit-picking, but the loss of a Monastery is a sad event for all, and I don't call discussing the reasons why, is 'nit-picking'. Let me give you a couple examples of why I'm so angry over this...
You know 3900 was sold, right? But did you know this last time wasn't the first time?
Here's a story you'll wonder about.
There once was a 'person in charge' who had a real God Complex, thought she knew it all, refused to take advice from true friends.
Instead, she confided inside information to the wrong individuals, people 'in the business' who recognized her for what she was, a dunderhead. All they had to do to gain her confidence was to sweet talk her with whatever she wanted to hear, to bemoan her plight as the only capable person in a sea of morons, just like she told them, and they had her eating out of the palm of their hands, believing whatever they fed her.
There was a potential buyer for 3900. One thing you never do in real estate transactions is to let the buyer know that you are desperate to sell! She did, and the BUYER drew up the contract, on Their terms, not the Monastery's, for about half what the property was worth. Then this 'trusted' agent told the 'one in charge' that she better take the deal quick because there's nobody else around who wanted the place. But But where will we go? He said don't worry, I can buy you land and build you the best Monastery you could imagine, all for under a million, and that'd leave you a mil and a half left over to spend. And forget fixing up This old place. That'd cost millions!
So, miss knowitall, believing every word he said, signed the contract. With signed contract in hand, our 'trusted friend and confidant' divulged to her that he was, by the way, the Buyer's agent, and was not working for her as she thought. Of course he'd tell her anything to make the sale.. what's 3% of 2 and a half million? Fortunately, the deal fell thru, but alas, sometime later, the 'person in charge' would have an opportunity to do even worse...
